It would help if the title 'The First Conversation' which is published in hard copy was also the title by which the website consultation response form is identified, rathert than 'Issues and Options'. Clarity matters

It would be helpful if the website used rhe same wording ('The First Conversation') as the hard copy which is in circulation, since it uses all the same wording. It sometimes seems that planning authorities have little idea how difficult the general public finds web-based communications which are supposed to constitute 'consultations'.

Lower Super Output Area level Data is available for Index of Multiple Deprivation. This is should be used to focus consultation efforts of the most deprived communities. I applaud the current efforts, and they are very much improved on previous consultations. However, the consultation must aim to meet people where they are and in a way that suits them. This means going to be people homes or consulting them in a way that doesn't involve them having to go out of their way to fill out forms. It would also be helpful if demographic data was collected alongside the consultation so we can actually see how representative the consulted sample was of the general population.

Current outreach plan seems good, but maybe knocking on doors would also help? As well as making sure it is clear at road shows etc that people's input really matters, and can help make change for the better.

Stakeholders, hopefully will be able to work this out for themselves so long as this is well publicised. This should be done in local social media groups, posters in local shops as well as council officers visiting local communities, residents associations and shopping places to make sure everyone has the chance to talk things over before responding.

1) Make a MUCH better job of the online presentation. It's a while since I looked at the Greater Cambridge web page, but when I did it was so confusing that I wouldn't have responded at all if I hadn't found this City Council version. Even here, I know that some are put off by needing to register. 2) Make it easier to digest and respond to a bit at a time - online and on paper. Nobody is going to work through 50 questions at one sitting. 3) Provide bite-size presentations and opportunities to respond in libraries, community centres, village halls, and elsewhere (eg pubs).

The lack of roadshows south east of Cambridge is very disappointing. Our nearest are in central Cambridge. The 'online in a digital-first format' and social media emphasis immediately excludes those who rarely use the Internet or are offline completely. We suggest that you engage with local community groups, for example Residents Associations, Parish Councils and Third Sector organisations in order to reach the above mentioned.

We have no specific comments, but the more consultation that is carried out and the greater detail that it is undertaken in, then the longer the consultation process.

workshops, presentations and displays (e.g. in libraries, village halls and workplaces) on relevant and specific topics, and bringing in expertise from the local community. I think this consultation and future consultations could be a little longer as there is a huge amount to consider and people need time to read, think, research and reply.

Our clients have no specific comments at this stage but, generally, it is a fact that the more consultation that is carried out and the greater detail that is obtained, then the longer the local plan process.

This kind of consultation is very laudable but a 50 item questionnaire with open answers is frankly an unrealistic way of actually engaging people. It needs to be shorter and pithier, perhaps with some 1…10 questions . It could have done with some more rigorous editing as it repeats itself on several occasions – see where I‘ve referred to other / previous answers.

It is important for the joint Council to engage with the local community and stakeholders to ensure full transparency on the evidence, policies and proposals as they emerge at each stage of the new Greater Cambridge Local Plan. Gonville and Caius College (hereafter the “College”) is a key stakeholder and long-term landowner in Greater Cambridgeshire and is committed to being part of the new Local Plan consultation process.

I believe that the best way to involve our communities is through a variety of ways - Evening and/or weekend sessions in all major towns and cities in the region - Online and postal consultations - Drop in sessions in smaller villages - A citizens assembly

One thing I wanted to stress was the importance of Neighbourhood Plans in informing the Local Plan. These, and designations of space within them (e.g. local green space) should be taken into account in putting the Local Plan together and implementing it.
