The new ped/cycle connections sound good. Only concern is that the gates to enter the Science Park from the busway are locked at evenings and weekends so people from King's Hedges would not be able to make use of the new cycle routes. Being able to cycle from King's Hedges to Milton Tesco via the Science Park would be brilliant. I really hope the gates remain open at all times so that through-routes are not blocked for pedestrians and cyclists - it's a long way round when you discover they are locked! I would love to jog round the science park but every time I go (after work or at the weekend), the gates along the busway are locked.

"accessible for everyone" This is a lie. Some people -- as the population ages a large percentage -- cannot cycle or walk far. Public transport is simply hopelessly unreliable. Any people relying on it to get to work know this. Trains have problems more days than they do not, busses are slow and inaccessible. This development will be inaccessible for them. It is, therefore, indirectly discriminatory against disabled people. Prove you can make public transport work for disabled people BEFORE you start claiming that it's sufficient for the only option in a development like this.

The Chisholm Trail link between North Cambridge and Newmarket Road needs to be completed to make cycling/walking connections viable; I also think that these connections should be reassessed once the Trail has been open for a while to see how it is used and how it might change connections needed most. Also, there need to be clear connections to the Milton Park and Ride as well as simply the general busway.

BUT you are ignoring horse riders and carriage drivers - equally vulnerable road users. All paths designated for cyclists should also be suitable for equine use, and routes should seek to link to existing bridleways e.g. Chisholm Trail should be opened up to horses, giving safe off-road hacking routes from Ditton Meadows up to Milton Park and beyond via the tow path to Waterbeath.

Some connections shown within the NEC area but detail totally inadequate regarding the provision of cycling routes outside the NEC area. It is pointless regarding NEC as an isolation development it needs to have a fully integrated strategy for dedicated segregated cycling to both the city and villages.

Crossing over milton road is the biggest current hinderance, followed by enterances to the science and business parks. Bridges and underpasses are the key here, as drivers and pedestrians/cyclists

If the goal is to avoid any additional car use, cycle routes must be of very high quality. At present, cycling routes into the city from North East Cambridge are poor: Neither Milton Road nor Histon Road is suitable for cyclists who are not confident. Expecting high cycle traffic on the river towpath is unrealistic (it is not wide enough, nor does it have a high quality surface). To make people move away from cars, it must be possible to move about without it needing to feel like an off-road expedition (in the case of the river) or a battle with motorists (Milton Road, with its roundabouts). Conclusion: the proposed connections from the site are good, but IMO it is highly unlikely that the goal of moving people away from their cars will be, unless significant investment is made in high-quality cycling infrastructure elsewhere in the city. Put another way, given that Milton is only 5 minutes further away from the city centre by bike, why is it that there is such high car ownership there if the existing cycling infrastructure is deemed good enough for the NE Cambridge site?

We need more peep to travel by train. The present situation whereby people on the business park do not have a direct route to the station is very disappointing, especially for those out the busway side. I support proposals to allow entrances to the Business Park on the busway side.

The walking and cycling connections look reasonable but it probably comes at the expense of the road volume that will enable people to live in the houses

Concerned for connections to those areas slightly further away for those that will work in the area but can't afford to live there. For those that can cycle some of these will be covered if the various Greenways proceed however concerned there is no thoughts on improved vehicle access to businesses, science park and A14. You detail that the area must be future climate proof. How will you ensure cycle routes will stay open in the snow especially if cars are so discouraged.

Only if the current Anglian Water treatment plant can remain where it is or a suitable other brown field site can be found to relocate it too instead of the 3 green field sites proposed.

Be generous with space & even then it may well not be enough. Address the widening range of cycling options from powered scooter to powered cargo bike,from junior cyclists to the over 80's Segregated walking is essential.
