village centre is shown at northwest corner, where Countryside have placed it, not the geographical centre as preferred by stakeholder workshops attendees.
Three options discussed at workshops and local attendees' (Caldecote, Bourn, Cambourne) preference was for Option C in centre, so it is within 800m walking distance to most of village, rather than leaving eastern end of settlement having to walk much further.
Mitigation is to create a secondary neighbourhood hub, which could affect viability of main centre, or even make secondary one unviable.
Current location will also encourage new centre to be in competition with Cambourne, something that Cambourne representatives did not want.
Local Plan - new village was 'sold' to residents as a standalone community with its own facilities.
Recommendations:
1. Located centrally - Option C
2. North-South runway can still be built out as a park/special feature in its own right without tying it to village centre
