Draft North East Cambridge Area Action Plan

Received: 02/10/2020

Respondent: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)

Representation Summary:

In the table within Policy 10b, the section marked Indicative development capacity should include the provision of a turn key building/facility (size to be determined in due course once the vision for healthcare provision has been finalised) for delivery of health care facilities to meet the anticipated need of the additional population generated by the development.

Under the “Appropriate uses” section of the policy a further bullet point should be introduced for health care facilities, again to address the additional needs generated by the population increase

Respondent: Cambridge Cycling Campaign

Representation Summary:

We support that this centre, including a school, has been located on a key walking and cycling route and integrated with the First Public Drain biodiversity corridor, but away from motor traffic. We agree that it should be a space that is safe for everyone all year round during the day and evening. There should be a clear visual link to the new walking and cycling bridge over Milton Road and we would recommend that the original option for a ‘green bridge’ over the road remains in the list of design options.

Neutral:
The broad rationale for the distribution of centres is understood. The Cowley Road Neighbourhood Centre (Policy 10e) is indicated to be partly on land owned by St John’s College. Whilst there are longer term plans for the redevelopment of parts of St John’s Innovation Park, further clarification and discussion is required as to how it is anticipated that the “small amount of ancillary retail space would extend the local centre over Cowley Road” into St John’s Innovation Park would be accommodated in advance of any redevelopment.
