If you plan for an appropriate number of homes it will be obvious that you dont need this many schools. The existence of arts hubs and halls doesn't create value for communities without ongoing funding.

There needs to be far more attention given to increasing community facilities and concrete plans for a secondary school and all the sports facilities and space that go along with that including a swimming pool, sports pitches for inside and outside games. Healthcare should provide for more that GP only - there should be a Minor Injuries Unit given that the nearest A&E is at Addenbrookes on the other side of the City.

Who will be interested in setting up an arts hub in the light of the consequences of the Covid 19 Pandemic which has resulted in so many arts centres having to close? How can you tell the way people will want to spedn their leisure time? Churches have discovered that services can be held remotely by Zoom - ballet classes, yoga classes other activities have been successfully taking place without a venue at all. How does your plan deal with the issues of isolation, loneliness and mental health? Being stuck in a 13 storey high rise block of flats would have been a nightmare for social interaction even once social isolation was lifted. where are the older people to live? What happens to the first time buyers who discover they cannot sell their tiny flat? How do mothers with babies socialise if they are stuck in a high rise?

Provision needs to be made for outdoor amenity space/parks and sports facilities, over and above the minimal 5 sq m per dwelling. Where schools are provided a reasonable standard of dedicated or shared outdoor sports facilities, including green space is required in addition.

There are far too few activities for the residents. It is being proposed that 8,000 new homes, meaning at least 8,000 new residents (more probably around 20,000 new residents). These people, as well as people who already live in the area, will desperately need opportunities for after hours activities and leisure. The proposed infrastructure doesn't support this need. This needs serious consideration and planning for restaurants, cafes, gyms, cinemas, activity clubs.

A secondary school is very likely to be needed, along with more leisure and sports facilities as these are lacking in this part of the city. We support schools and leisure facilities being located on key walking and cycling routes so that children can travel safely and independently to their destinations from a young age. We have particular concern as we have a blind travel who has the ability to travel independently, but currently it is not safe enough to do this! Schools, health facilities and other community buildings should be in place as residents move into the first homes to promote low levels of car use and ownership. It will be important to also have cycle hire and car clubs already available so that residents do not get locked into car ownership.

I have already addressed some of these points in an earlier question. To recap, I am concerned about the educational provision. For a development on the same scale as Ely, the provision needs to similar to that city e.g. nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools, a secondary school and a fee-paying school. There will also need to be a Sixth Form and some Further Education facility. There is one library, but it would be good to also have a smaller library at the other side of the site. We value being able to pop into the library on the way home from school, without having to make a special trip. There needs to be at least one new swimming pool, otherwise how will children learn how to swim? Swimming lessons at local pools are already oversubscribed, and will not be able to take this extra pressure. There are no places of worship - is this development only open to atheists, or will people with a faith be required to travel into the city for meetings?

Again seems excessive to have so many schools. I guess the need for so many schools is the proposed highly populated area I'd like to see an example of another town or city in east anglia that has the same amount of people living in one area as the proposed. I like the idea of the library, if the funds from the council can continue to fund the service.

A secondary school is very likely to be needed, along with more leisure and sports facilities as these are lacking in this part of the city. Children in Milton have to trek to Impington fpr secondary school; it would be an ideal opportunity to give choice with an easier journey especially as new developments in Histon, Impington and Girton must mean there is a squeeze on places at IVC. I would say that all schools and leisure facilities need to be located on key walking and cycling routes so that children can travel safely and independently to their destinations from a young age. Schools, health facilities and other community buildings should be in place as residents move into the first homes to promote low levels of car use and ownership not built as an afterthought which seems to be the way developers generally work.

There is no secondary school, no sports pitches and no swimming pool. Why not another Lido as Jesus Green is very busy in the summer. You could include a concert hall as Edington has done

You are proposing a development that will match the population of Ely, yet this is without a high street, market, secondary school, hospital, sport pitch, swimming pool, leisure centre or large scale cultural centre, not to mention no gardens nor allotments. Have we learned nothing from this pandemic? You suggest that a library, a community centre and a GP surgery will suffice. Really? This is one of the most shocking aspects of the short sightedness of this development.

Given the nature and size of most of the homes, I imagine that residents are likely to move on before children reach secondary age. I agree that a site should be protected but the more obvious need is for nursery and primary provision. Also there needs to be more provision for health and fitness, both private and public facilities, for what I think will be a predominantly young to middle-aged adult population. There should be provision for a swimming pool in a health/fitness facility.

There are no secondary schools in the vicinity, nor are there leisure and sports facilities for much of this larger part of Cambridge. These really need to be better integrated with schools so that pupils can travel safely and easily from a young age.

The community has been given very little thought as the plans are very biased on housing. 8,000 homes will provide for approximately 18,500 people. The facilities you have suggested are completely inadequate. I am worried the space set aside for a secondary school will soon be gobbled up by some other venture that makes money for the developers and means secondary schools close by will be overfull. Where will the pilates classes be or the art classes? The area will accommodate a population the size of Ely; Ely has a cathedral, 2 churches, 4 museums, a nature reserve, boat tours and many other things to do, why can't this new area?

I think there are not enough planned community facilities and that this development will increase pressure on existing facilities. There are not enough to make it self contained, no swimming pool or sufficient outdoor space for outdoor sporting activities, no concert hall. I think it will increase traffic in the surrounding neighbourhood.
