Mitcham's Corner Development Framework SPD

Representation ID: 31256

Received: 20/09/2016

Respondent: Paul Robison

Representation Summary:

I support low design speeds, but these are not low enough. Given that the distance from end-to-end of Mitchams Corner (from Trafalgar Road to Croftholme Lane) is only about 250m, the difference in time taken to drive through the heart of this community would be less than 20 seconds more if you were to aim for a design speed of 10mph. This extra time would give 'transient visitors' time to contemplate stopping at the shops too, so should be supported by traders.
Also, design speeds on junctions and bends would presumably be lower anyway for safety reasons?
