We agree that Policy 43 of the Cambridge Local Plan (2018) has value and should be rolled forward into the Greater Cambridge Local Plan, so as to support new faculty and specialist facilities/development, whilst ensuring the effective use of land, improved circulation for pedestrians and cyclists, public realm improvements, reduction car parking provision and the introduction of active frontages.

H/HD: Housing density
Representation ID: 59149

Respondent: University of Cambridge
We support the proposed policy direction to seek to deliver site specific appropriate net densities across Greater Cambridge, and to apply a design-led approach to determine the optimum development capacity of sites in order to make the best use of land. See in particular our response to S/NWC: North West Cambridge.

H/SA: Student accommodation
Representation ID: 59209
Received: 13/12/2021
Respondent: University of Cambridge
We support the intention to provide policy for student accommodation, with the purpose to support student growth forecasts. We note the intention for self-contained accommodation to count towards delivering the overall housing requirement for Greater Cambridge, but this should not be at the expense of meeting other housing needs.

I/ST: Sustainable transport and connectivity
Representation ID: 59239
Received: 13/12/2021
Respondent: University of Cambridge
We support the general approach to Policy I/ST. There is a need to ensure new development is integrated into the existing facilities and services as well as seemless connectivity to the existing transport and community networks. Public Transport contributions need to be used effectively and have a long term impact on the connectivity of place. Sustainable deliveries (cargo bikes) should be included in policy and associated design and space requirements, particularly for cycle infrastructure and capacity.
