CC/RE: Renewable energy projects and infrastructure
Representation ID: 56619
Received: 25/11/2021
Respondent: Gamlingay Parish Council
Support. Stand alone renewable energy projects supported in principle. There is a requirement for localised publically accessible anaerobic digestion plants to assist agriculture/chicken farming and removal of grass cuttings and tree and hedge trimmings/christmas trees to create electricity for the local area. Nearest public bio digester is in Suffolk/Essex. None in Cambridgeshire.

Support for doubling nature in South Cambs. However quite vague, unless specific percentages by each parish are produced as a starting point-a clearer target in Cambs City.

8 Western Gateway proposal is supported. However the proposed boundary to the area cuts Gamlingay parish in half. It does not include important woodland edge environments to the west and south of the settlement bordering central Bedfordshire. There is opportunity to include some acid heathland and grassland habitats and enhanced managements practices within the Western Gateway area. The boundary should be redrawn to include the whole of gamlingay parish up to the Central Bedfordshire border.

BG/TC: Improving Tree Canopy Cover and the Tree Population
Representation ID: 56625

A more strategic plan is required rather than a scattergun approach- as per planning application. A new community forest/strategic plan is needed with allocated sites for tree belts/mini forests within sub areas of the district. Gamlingay proposes a necklace of mini forests surrounding the parish to link with existing ancient woodland habitats, which can provide wildlife corridors ( 8 Western Gateway area)
